ICC T20 World Cup 2026 — Star Sports, JioHotstar & DD Sports schedule

Twenty teams, two hosts, and the only ICC men's event where Doordarshan's free-to-air clean feed is mandated by law for selected India matches.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is the second edition co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with twenty teams playing 55 matches across a Super 12 group stage, Super 8s, semi-finals and a final between February and early March. Star Sports and JioHotstar share the pay rights in India; Doordarshan picks up the free-to-air mandated India-match feed.

Among the marquee ICC events on the 2026 calendar — Champions Trophy in February (Pakistan host), this T20 World Cup, then the Women’s T20 World Cup in June — this is the one with the broadest free legal access in India.

How to watch legally

  1. In India, decide whether free is enough. If you only want India’s matches plus the knockouts, DD Sports + DD Free Dish (one-time set-top-box cost, no monthly fee) covers it. For the full tournament including non-India group games, you need JioHotstar Premium.
  2. In Pakistan, PTV Sports plus Tapmad TV is the standard stack. PTV is free-to-air on PTV’s terrestrial signal; Tapmad TV’s monthly subscription adds the streaming layer.
  3. In the UK, Sky Sports Cricket is the only route. A Now TV Sports day-pass works for one-off knockout matches without committing to a Sky contract.
  4. In Australia, Channel 7 is expected to carry Australia’s matches and the final free-to-air under a partner deal with Fox Cricket; everything else needs Fox Cricket via Kayo Sports.

Frequently asked questions

Will Doordarshan show the T20 World Cup 2026 free in India?
Yes, but only selected matches. Under the Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act 2007, any cricket event of national importance involving the Indian men’s team must be shared with Doordarshan on a clean feed. For the T20 World Cup 2026, DD Sports is expected to carry every India match plus the semi-finals and final — terrestrial TV, DD Free Dish satellite, and the DD Sports app. Matches not involving India are not in the free-to-air mandate.
How many matches and where will the T20 World Cup 2026 be played?
55 matches across India and Sri Lanka, with twenty teams in four Super 12 groups, Super 8s, semi-finals and the final. India hosts the bulk of the matches; Sri Lanka holds knockout-stage matches and a Super 12 group. The final is expected in early March 2026, venue confirmed closer to the tournament.
Where can I watch the T20 World Cup 2026 outside India?
Sky Sports Cricket in the UK, Fox Cricket and Channel 7 in Australia, Willow TV in the US, SuperSport in sub-Saharan Africa, PTV Sports and A Sports in Pakistan. Sky carries every match live; Channel 7 typically carries the Australia matches and the final on a free-to-air partner deal with Fox.
